• Facilities

As well as our comprehensive collection of both printed and electronic books, magazines, and databases, the Learning Centre provides a convenient place to study. This includes a dedicated Quiet Study space,  plus space for group work and individual study. All these spaces are equipped with charging and connection points.

There are computers located within the open area of the Learning Centre and also within the Quiet Study area.

Students can also borrow a laptop from the lapsafe which is located at the rear of the Learning Centre for use when working in this area. These are useful devices for collaborating within the booths.

    • Computer Access

We have 28 PCs running Windows 11 available in the Learning Centre. 16 are in the main body of the Learning Centre and 12 are in the Quiet Room. In addition, 24 laptops are available via the Lapsafe locker at the back of the Learning Centre where students may borrow a laptop to use in the Learning Centre for up to 4 hours at a time. These laptops must always remain on the college premises.

      Logging In

Use the Office 365 username and password you created at the start of the college term to login.

      Wifi

Once students have authenticated their accounts they can use Eduroam when on campus.

Choose Eduroam from the list of available Wifi networks and use your college Office 365 username (student number@west-lothian.ac.uk) and password to login.

For those visiting college, please contact the person you are visiting and they can arrange visitor Wifi access via our Digital Infrastructure team.

    • Support

Learning Centre staff can help with finding relevant resources, password resets and basic IT problems. We offer guidance on Referencing, Research and Study Skills. Please do not hesitate to ask for assistance.

    • Printing and Photocopying Facilities

To support your studies all students have a £10 credit. Please consider the environment when printing and only print where necessary.

Documents can be printed or copied double sided and powerpoint can be printed with multiple slides to a page to reduce paper use.

If you need to help in printing or copying please speak to the Learning Centre Team. The team are also able to top your print allowance up if required by processing a payment for you.

Please note, you can only print from a college device located within the Learning Centre - printing is not possible from college loan laptops, mobiles or personal computers/tablets.

To collect your prints or do any photocopying, you must log onto the photocopier/printer using your matriculation (student) number. The cost will be deducted from your printing allowance.

Students have a £10 printing allowance gifted at the start of the year and the costs which are taking of the allowance for printing/copying are:
