EDT Placements (formerly The Year in Industry (YINI)), is part of the Engineering Development Trust (EDT), is a not-for-profit organisation offering Pre-university/ post S5/S6 students a free extra resource when searching for year out, paid work placements. These placements give students the opportunity to check out STEM careers, make informed decisions about which study or career path to take and can lead to sponsorship or apprenticeship opportunities. Candidates placed through the YINI scheme have access to additional mentor support, one day master classes and industrial accreditation. Job Description:
Responsible for delivering administration and support services to assist our Social Projects and Sector Education Team deliver their social inclusion and employability strategy. Responsible for the setup, organisation & delivery of our social inclusion programmes, Breaking Barriers, in partnership with Enable Scotland and Strathclyde University and Barnardo’s Works, in partnership with the charity Barnardo. In addition, provide support across the team for volunteering projects, employability programmes and STEM outreach, supporting the whole team to delivery on their annual plan.
 
Purpose/ duties/ what the student will learn or gain skills in etc.
• Planning, coordinating, and delivering the Breaking Barriers, Barnardo’s and Enable Works Social Programmes
• Create content for the team’s social media channel, by posting updates on activities, events, and Programmes
• Organise and attend career events
• Attend internal and external meetings, to represent the business
• Create presentations for internal and external purpose
• Support external STEM events
• Support external staff volunteering activities
• Engage in various pre-employment Programmes, direction from Programme Coordinator

• Flexibility to do what is needed and to balance workload to accommodate delivery plan
