SEPTEMBER MH&WB EVENTS

All events will be on Microsoft Teams. They will be FREE and OPEN TO ALL students. All lunchtime events will have a wellbeing prize draw for a random attendee, and of course feel free to eat lunches and snacks and drinks during events :)

Monday 13th September

  • 12pm - 12pm: Film Screening and Q&A with Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival

What is it: Hear from some of the inspiring artists who took part in the Scottish Mental Health Arts Festival from May this year.
The theme of this years' festival was 'Normality', and the artists responded to this. We will have a chance to watch and hear about their work, and ask some questions if you'd like. More info coming soon.

  • 4:30pm - 5:30pm: Learning About Resilience: Failing Stuff, But In a Good Way..

What is it: Join a new member of the Support for Learning team, Laura, to hear some alternative tips and tricks on managing and growing from challenges in life. You will get an opportunity to try new ideas to manage your wellbeing, or how you can support others better.

Tuesday 14th September

  • 12pm – 1pm: Fun Introduction to Mindfulness with YouthMindfulness

What is it: Join YouthMindfulness who has been teaching mindfulness for more than a decade. Their programmes are evidence-based, draw on the latest research and are grounded in best practice. But most importantly... they are super engaging, deeply meaningful and FUN!

What is it: People often give advice to 'look after yourself' or 'be kind to yourself' but it can be hard to know where to start. In this session Laura will go through practical aspects around self care, beyond bubble baths and beard oil...

Friday 17th September

  • 12pm – 1pm: Mental Health talk with Ex-Students: ‘What Changed?’ 

What is it: A fun, fast-paced talk from ex-students who have been through a mental health journey. Hear how people who have been in similar positions as students found support and moved forward. Hear some top tips for your student journey.

  • 4pm – 5pm: Session with Laura ‘An Intro to Planning for Your Wellbeing’

What is it: Wellbeing Planning is a tool to plan for your mental health and wellbeing which exists in many forms. In this session we will look at different ways to plan, and begin to do so for ourselves.
