So now you're enrolled and have access to the digital tools you need to be a successful student. This short course helps build your confidence that you can use these, and where to get help if you've not yet learned this! Give it a go and if it's too hard, come along to the Learning Centre during opening hours and we will take you through it.
-
This mini-course takes you through step-by-step how to log in to your student account with Office.com and how to use some other systems too.
Give it a go.
If you find this too hard, our Learning Centre is open and the staff there can help.
The Learning Centre is open in term time from 8.30am to 5pm on Monday and Wednesday. Tuesday and Thursday, 8.30am to 9pm and Friday 8.30am - 3.15pm

Your student number/student reference number (SRN) or matriculation number is an 8 digit number which is unique to you.
It always starts 20... and you will find it on MyCollege.
You can find the login to MyCollege on the college web-site - it's the same system you used to apply, accept and pre-enrol for college.
Get to know this number as it's also used to login to all college systems.

On your computer, open up an internet browser such as Microsoft Edge or Google Chrome and type in www.office.com at the top of the page in the address bar.
A login page will appear. Your username is your student number@west-lothian.ac.uk. It may already be here, if so just click on it. If not, click "Use another account" then type in the username.
You’ll be prompted to enter your password, do this and click sign in.
Choose whether you want to stay signed in, Yes or No.
You’ll then see a screen similar to the one pictured below. This is the homepage.
You have now completed the first task, well done! Please move on to Task 2.

This is an easy step, as Word automatically saves the document for you, but it's a good principle to be sure you are saving as you go along.
Time for Step 9 - almost there!

Almost there!
In doing this task, you have also used Moodle, which is our college virtual learning environment. Not all courses use Moodle, some prefer Teams, but hopefully, you'll be back here one day for more!

This is the final step - hopefully an easy one.
Back on the Office365 home page, click on your profile icon on the top right hand side of the screen (likely it is just your initials, you can also customise this with a picture if you feel like it).
Choose Sign out.
That's it - you have shown you are Digital Ready. More support with IT is available in the Learning Centre if you need it. Look out for the weekly drop-in sessions.
